Briefing:There will be a compulsory briefing at the pool 5 mins before each category begins. Start:Category start times shown above. Wave starts will depend on numbers in each entry category. Please assume you are in the FIRST heat. Why do an Aquathon? As well as doing an Aquathon, you'll have great fun and get to compete with your friends. In your goody bag you will receive some great treats and your own certificate that you can have personalized after you finish Do I need to train? No serious training is required just to finish the Category I event - all you need to be able to do is swim four lengths of the pool and run / walk just over a ½ mile. A little more preparation may be required to compete in the Category II and III Events. If you want to prepare, practice each element of the Aquathon and focus on the hard part - the transition. This is the bit where you move from one activity to the other as quickly as possible. Try putting on your shoes (and maybe a warm top) as fast as you can. The more times your try this, the easier it will be on the day. Maybe get yourself some elastic shoe laces so you don't have to tie any laces! See the ‘Training’ page for more details. Safety Tips:When swimming with others, keep right and pass someone on their left if necessary. When you exit the pool remember do NOT run by the edge of the pool – it is slippery. You must WALK to the transition area. As you come into the first transition place your cap and goggles carefully in your event area and put your running shoes on before leaving transition. When running make sure you don't clip the heels of the person in front, and save some energy to complete the event! Getting Through the Event:Stage
